HomePageBiCon Resource CentreHow to Run a BiconSome thoughts by people who've done it, mostlyBeing a BiCon organiser is like being a parent. Everyone else will tell you they know better than you do what to do. And if they'd done it, it'd have been much better. But they're not doing this year's - and you are. Yay you. But also like parenting, anyone who has done it appreciates what it's like in a way that people who haven't don't. (And has probably forgotten how difficult the couple of weeks before the event are!) This is intended as a place where those of us who have can pass on some of our experiences - good and bad - to the lucky people with the job now. The community puts a lot of trust in BiCon organisers, and anyone who's ever organised a BiCon knows how demanding the community can be at times in return. But it'd be good if organisers were given fewer hassles about some of the small things and were expected to be more accountable about the big ones. At the moment, it can feel like it's the other way around. IanWatters
